Min gode vän Christer uppmärksammar mig på att EU-kommisionär Franco Frattini vill förbjuda mig att söka på bland annat "bomb", "död" och "terrorism" (10 September 2007). Därför skriver jag i ett brev, något man bör göra om man har vunnit lotten att leva i ett fritt land.
I read the following on your page:
"There is much long-term work we are carrying out at European level: from initiatives on radicalisation, bio-terrorism, security of explosives and detonators, and the need to constantly monitor the web. The web remains a fantastic opportunity for education and freedom but also a way for Osama Bin Laden and other terrorists to communicate all around the world, as well as for disseminating information on how to make explosives."
Freedom of speech and thought is a crucial foundation on which democracy stands. If you censor the internet the terrorists win. If our democracies become even a little less free due to terrorist activity the terrorists win. If you stop me from searching for "bomb" or "terrorist" the terrorists win.
Their whole plan is to undermine democracy so that their fundamental alternative doesn't seem so distant.
You are letting the terrorists win. Please don't.
